Seasoned former banking executive provides consulting services regarding credit and compliance to financial institutions such as small community banks and credit unions.  Commercial, mortgage, lease and installment loan review.  Analysis of ALL, bank policy, procedure and forms review and development, credit and legal documentation review.                                                                                                                                                                                                   

Senior Vice President and Senior Credit Officer, ALLIANCE BANK, 2012-2013

Vice Chair and voting member of Officers Loan Committee. Reviewed complex and sizeable loans for approval as well as compliance with credit policy.  Provided guidance, assistance and support to lenders in structuring loan packages and evaluating credit worthiness of prospects and customers.  Ensured that adequate analysis, evaluation of financial statements and external investigation are conducted in support of the lending process.  Provided support to lenders by meeting with larger and more critical borrowers and prospects.  Assisted Senior Loan Officer in:

  • Establishment, implementation and management of administrative and review systems and procedures actively managing and protecting the quality of the commercial loan portfolio.
  • Identifying potential problem credits and working with lenders, collection staff and outside counsel to restructure credits and minimize loss.

Senior Vice President, FIVE STAR BANK, 2009-2011

2011 - Senior Vice President and Market Executive, Business Banking Unit.  Selected to launch and lead a new small business commercial lending product.  Led newly formed team dedicated to generating commercial loans in the $100M - $500M range.  Managed 7 including a sales force of 6 and a product specialist.  Scored underwriting platform allowed for incremental loan growth at attractive rates.  Through aggressive and focused calling efforts, team increased loan applications by over 40% and loans closed by over 50%.  Loan closings 15% ahead of assigned goal after first 9 months. 

2009–2010 - Senior Vice President and Regional Credit Executive.   Responsible for approval and structure of all credit exposures from $250M - $5MM.  Sponsored and structured all credit exposures from $5MM - $15MM for executive loan committee approval.  Responsible for timely and supportable risk ratings for loan portfolio. Creative deal structuring allowed for double digit quality loan growth in both 2009 and 2010. Early identification of problem credits allowed for successful oversight of line managed workout portfolio resulting in no charge offs.

Senior Vice President/Team Leader, Middle Market Group, KEY BANK, 2006-2009

Recruited to transform performance and stability of struggling middle market lending team.  Managed 5 including 2 RM’s, 2 credit analysts and one administrative position.  Inherited lending team with high turnover and a performance ranking of 26th out of 27 districts bank wide.  Focused efforts on calling and cross selling vaulted the team’s ranking from 26th to 3rd in 2008 with the Rochester District winning “District of the Year” distinction.

Vice President and Team Leader, Commercial Banking Group, WYOMING COUNTY/FIVE STAR BANK, 2004-2006

Recruited to Wyoming County / Five Star Bank after Chase’s eight member federal government banking group was eliminated and merged into an existing investment banking team.  Brought aboard to improve lending standards and establish tighter credit process.  Managed 5 RM’s.

JP MORGAN CHASE & CO., 1991-2004 

Vice President and Team Leader, Federal Government Banking Group (2001-2014):  Co-developed a business strategy to attract and win additional cash management business from government agencies, a lucrative target market. Sourced federal government clients, and developed cash management solutions for their complicated funds transfer problems.

Vice President and Team Leader, Small Business Banking Group (1996-2001):  Generated interest income & fee revenue through the sale of credit and non-credit products to coproate customers with annual sales of $10MM - $250MM, including working capital, real estate and equipment loans, cash management services, interest rate derivatives, and foreign exchange risk management products.  Also responsible for mentoring a sales team of 4.  Oversight responsibility of $200MM credit portfolio.
